Melanie Runas, a farmer and mother of five, grows a variety of crops, including sweet potatoes, green beans, peppers, tomatoes, and corn. Runas' farm is 10 minutes away from the Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal, where she goes to sell her produce on nearly a daily basis. When she has surplus produce, she may bring it to Rise Against Hunger Philippines' food bank there to trade it in for rice, cooking oil, instant coffee, tinned proteins, and other staple items.
