Michael is the Vice President of Communications and Marketing for The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN). As a member of the senior management team, Michael leads communications to advance the goal of reducing hunger and strengthening the food system.
Prior to GFN, Michael spent 12 years at the World Resources Institute (WRI), most recently as the head of communications. At WRI, Michael oversaw communications and engagement across 12 global offices and worked with WRI leadership to set the vision, strategy, and direction for the institute’s outreach. Michael helped grow WRI’s profile and reach, including overseeing a wide variety of outreach activities, including media, editorial, events, and internal communications. Prior to WRI, Michael was the Federal Media Director at the Natural Resources Defense Council where he led efforts to advance government policy on climate change and clean energy. As a Senior Communication Officer at the American Red Cross, Michael oversaw communications for humanitarian disasters and public health campaigns.
Earlier in his career, Michael worked in advertising and film and video production in New York City. He holds a master’s degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University. He lives in Washington D.C., with his wife and two teenage children.
